Congratulations to the SHS Marching Band for winning the Mid-South
Marching Invitational at Austin Peay State University on Saturday, October 25,
2014. The band finished 1st place overall in finals competition (out of 19 bands
from TN and KY) and was named Grand Champion. The list of total awards
includes: (in prelims) a Superior Rating, 1st place percussion in class, and 1st
place band in class; (in finals) 1st place percussion overall and 1st place band
CONGRATULATIONS to the Bulldog Battalion Raider Team. The female team came
in first place overall and the male team placed fourth overall with a first
place finish in the obstacle course event.
CONGRATULATIONS to the following young ladies of the Bulldog Battalion for
their selection as this year's Queen and Court for the JROTC Military Ball:
Freshman, Morgan Raider; Sophmore, Kathryn Brosemer; Junior, Mariah Biggs; and
Senior, Audrey Burkett. This year's Queen of the JROTC Ball is Kayla
Financial Aid Night will be Tuesday, October 21st at 6:00 pm in the
Cafeteria. Interested parents and students are encouraged to attend, especially
seniors, as they will be valuable information about completing the
Students are invited to Motlow's Smyrna Campus Saturday, October 18th from
10:00am to noon. There, the students may apply for the Tennessee Promise
allowing them to attend Motlow tuition-free starting in the fall of 2015.
Students who complete the Motlow admissions application at this event will have
their $25 application fee waived. The deadline for applying for the Tennessee
Promise for 2015 graduates is November 1st.
There will be a Spaghetti Benefit Dinner in Honor of Mr. Kenny Anderson on
Tuesday October 21st at Lifepoint Church. The cost is $8 per person or $20 per
family. The dinner is being hosted by the Derr family and will be
held from 4:30 - 7:30 pm.

The PSAT will be given on Wednesday, Oct. 15th. Interested juniors and
seniors will need to sign up with Mrs. Hickey in the counseling office. The cost
is $14 and will need to be paid when you sign up. There are limited spaces
available to bring your money ASAP.

There will be an informational parent meeting for the TN Promise intiative
on Sept. 30th at 5:30pm in the Smyrna High cafeteria. Representatives from TN
Achieves will explain the TN Promise program and answer questions.
